Gary Jones, owner of Jones Street Bistro, has been a long time resident of Tucson, Arizona. Gary was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Tucson with his parents and two brothers at age nine and recalls an adventurous ride on the train.
As a boy Gary earned pocket change working the wee hours of the morning as a newspaper boy. While attending Amphitheater High School he was playing gigs as a drummer in two local bands. Gary attended the University of Arizona earning a degree in Marketing and Business Administration. After graduating Gary worked for the Coleman Corporation for many years as a Field Engineer and traveled extensively throughout the United States. Following Coleman Gary owned and operated a heating and cooling company.
Gary has an impressive resume in commercial and federal construction. With nearly thirty years of experience in the construction field Gary can drive around Tucson and point out the numerous buildings he was involved in constructing or renovating. The same can be said of other markets throughout the country. Following a major slowdown in construction in 2010 and finding himself out of a job Gary discovered what he had found challenging and lucrative in construction was ultimately unfulfilling and decided it was time to re-invent himself by following his passion.
Gary’s absolute passion is food and has been creating savory recipes in his kitchen for the past 20 years. He has regularly shared his enthusiasm for food by preparing bold and zesty dishes for his family and friends. In his many years of traveling Gary has dined in some of the most impressive dining rooms throughout this country. His most memorable eats though have been of the food trucks on the streets of Los Angeles.
Starting and operating his own food truck, Jones Street Bistro, has been like coming home. The kitchen is where Gary challenges himself to refresh the old classics and create new dishes which revels the abundance of America's diversity. He celebrates the bountiful and delicious spices of the unique cultures of this country by creating cuisine that is tasty and delectable.
With the same enthusiasm and passion Gary approached the construction of a building he now redirects that same enthusiasm and passion in the kitchen where the inspired recipes of his imagination find a receptive outlet. Gary shares his love of food and delights the palette of his family, friends and now the many Jones Street Bistro fans.
